Shapes of mine

The female body is still very much objectified and sexualised. Growing up in a dominant visual (pop)culture where a lot of images of womanhood are displayed day in, day out, I realised how my self-image was shaped by unrealistic expectations.

In ‘Shapes of Mine” I explored my body with the help of photographer Sonia Verdiesen. These photos help me to see my body as my own, to celebrate its shape, texture and size. Every part of it truly is a work of art.
